Muted or Bold?
It’s a personal choice. What is your vision? If you like a soft and airy vibe then go with colors that are soft and muted along with a location that complements that same feel. For a bolder choice, use the color wheel (I have one in a previous blog or you can google it, Pinterest, etc) and look for colors that are opposite on the wheel. There is no wrong answer, some photographers tend to lean towards light and airy with their editing while others tend to be more bold and dramatic. My style tends to lean on the bold side. I love a good contrast and images that stand out.
In addition to colors, the style of outfit(s) you choose can also change the image dramatically even in the same location. As you can see above, If you are torn between a few, that’s ok, you can ask away or bring both. I would always suggest being as comfortable as possible.
Also with maternity it’s best to get your photos taken between 6-7 months along. This allows you to still feel good about moving around comfortably as well.
IF you are wondering why there is a random knitted dress in the above photos, I have this in my client closet. It’s daring, it’s bold and can be used for maternity or just simply for you to wear if you are feeling like hell yeah, why not.
